More than 4,600 first semester students started their studies at KIT in the winter semester 2014/2015. During an official ceremony on Friday, October 17, 2014, the students were welcomed in the Black Forest Hall of the Karlsruhe Congress Center.

KIT President Prof. Holger Hanselka, Mayor of the City of Karlsruhe Mr. Michael Obert, and Chairman of the AStA Johannes Janosovits welcomed the students, their families, and friends at KIT and in the city of Karlsruhe.

An entertaining supporting program was offered by the KIT University Dance Orchestra, the Ersti Quiz, which put the knowledge of first-year students about KIT and its history and places to the test, and a performance by cabaret artist Sascha Knorf.

During the event, students were also honored for their special commitment, for example in university groups and student councils.

Afterwards, the students had the opportunity to talk to professors in the foyer and to inform themselves at the numerous information stands about studies and central facilities at KIT.

Special thanks go to our sponsors, whose commitment contributed to a successful evening.
