Shareholdings and portfolio

KIT participates in selected companies as a shareholder. Two scenarios are defined at KIT for this purpose: technology and strategic shareholdings.

Our portfolio of Technology Shareholdings

Technology shareholdings are made in research-based spin-offs from KIT for transfer-oriented and economic reasons. The main characteristics of these investments are a focus on technology and growth and a high degree of innovation. These Shareholdings by KIT are exited in the medium to long term.

KIT is involved in spin-offs in the CleanTech, microtechnology, lightweight research-based spin-offs, materials development, life science and pharmaceutical industries, among others.

Our Strategic Shareholdings

Strategic shareholdings in companies are primarily made in the interest of higher education policy in order to create additional opportunities for fulfilling teaching, research and innovation tasks. This can take the form of educational initiatives, the institutionalization of research collaborations or investments in companies with which KIT aims to improve knowledge and technology transfer. Such Shareholdings are generally long-term.
