More than 4,600 first semester students started their studies at KIT in the winter semester 2013/2014. Traditionally, they were welcomed with a festive event. In 2013, the first semester students were welcomed on Friday, October 18, at 6 pm in the Schwarzwald Hall of the Karlsruhe Congress Center.

KIT President Prof. Holger Hanselka, the first mayor of Karlsruhe, Mrs. Margret Mergen, and the chairman of the UStA, Noah Fleischer, welcomed the students and their families and friends in Karlsruhe and at KIT.

During the festive event, students were also honored for their special commitment in scientifically, socially, economically, or culturally oriented university groups or in student councils.

During the subsequent get-together in the foyer, first-year students had the opportunity to inform themselves at the numerous information stands of the faculties and central KIT facilities and to establish first contacts with professors.

Special thanks go to our sponsors, whose commitment contributed to a successful evening.
