Privacy policy for the administration of the KIT Alumni Network

This privacy policy is intended to provide you with information about the processing of your personal data within the Alumni Network of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).

 

 

I. Processing of personal data

 

KIT processes contact data, faculty and study program as well as type and date of graduation for the connection to alumni unless you object to this processing. In addition, KIT processes further personal data for this purpose if you provide them voluntarily. These are personal data. According to Article 4 No. 1 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (DS-GVO), this is all data relating to an identified or identifiable natural person.

Alumni support is provided by the "Career Service and Alumni (CSA)" department of the KIT "Innovation and Relations Management (IRM)" service unit.

The data remain stored as long as they are required for alumni administration purposes or until you object to the processing of the legally determined data or revoke your consent with regard to the additional data. For this purpose, you can contact the CSA department at any time (please send an e-mail to alumni does-not-exist.kit edu).

III. Legal basis

 

The legal basis for the processing of contact data, faculty and degree program as well as type and date of graduation results from Article 6 (1) subparagraph 1 letter e, (3) subparagraph 1 letter b DS-GVO in conjunction with Section 12 (1) sentence 2 in conjunction with Section 20 (1) KIT Act, as the data processing is necessary to promote the connection with graduates.

Insofar as you provide supplementary information about yourself for alumni support, the data will be processed on the basis of your consent pursuant to Article 6 (1) subparagraph 1 letter a DS-GVO.

 

 

IV. Your rights

 

With regard to the personal data concerning you, you have the following rights vis-à-vis us:

  • Right to withdraw your consent with effect for the future, where the processing is based on consent pursuant to Article 6(1), first subparagraph, point (a) of the GDPR (Article 7(3) of the GDPR).
  • Right to obtain confirmation as to whether data relating to you are being processed and to obtain information about the data processed, further information about the data processing and copies of the data (Article 15 DS-GVO)
  • Right to rectification or completion of inaccurate or incomplete data (Article 16 DS-GVO)
  • Right to erasure of data concerning you without delay (Article 17 DS-GVO)
  • Right to restriction of processing (Article 18 DS-GVO)
  • Right to object to future processing of data concerning you, where the data are processed pursuant to Article 6(1)(e) or (f) of the GDPR (Article 21 of the GDPR).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority about the processing of personal data concerning you by KIT (Article 77 DS-GVO). The supervisory authority within the meaning of Article 51(1) DS-GVO concerning KIT is, pursuant to Section 25(1) LDSG:
