Research and development at ABB research center – leading research in digital industry

This presentation will give an overview of ABB research center in Ladenburg and the research and development activities.

At the research center, scientists and engineers with various types of background and competence work together to make industry more sustainable and more autonomous by developing new solutions for digital industry and smart and sustainable electrification.

In particular, two examples of our current activities will be presented to demonstrate how the R&D at the research center is bringing the digitalization in process industries to the next level:

• example 1 is the BatchInsight tool that assists operators to achieve better batch production using data from the batch processes;
• example 2 is the KEEN project where ABB collaborates with industrial and academic partners to address the challenge of limited availability of data in process industry.
